This Privacy Policy describes how Ingredio ("we", "our", or "the App") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Profile Information: Name, age range, and dietary preferences you enter when creating profiles (Adult, Child, Baby, Pet)
- Health Sensitivities: Allergies, intolerances, and health conditions you specify for personalized analysis
- Nutrition Data: Food entries, water intake, and supplement schedules you log
- Nutrition Goals: Daily calorie, protein, carbohydrate, and fat targets you set
1.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Camera Images: Photos you capture for ingredient analysis (processed, not stored permanently)
- Device Information: Device type, operating system version, app version
- Usage Data: Features used, scan counts, app interaction patterns
- Crash Reports: Technical information when the app encounters errors
1.3 Information from Third Parties
- Product Database: Nutritional information from Open Food Facts when you scan barcodes
- Apple HealthKit: Health data you choose to sync (with your explicit permission)

3. AI Processing and Third-Party Services
How Our AI Analysis Works:
- You scan a product label with your camera
- Our app uses on-device OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to extract text from the image
- Only the extracted text (ingredient lists, nutrition facts) is sent to Google's Gemini AI for analysis
- The original image stays on your device and is NOT sent to any server
Google processes the text data according to their Privacy Policy. Text is processed in real-time and is not permanently stored.
Third-Party Services We Use:
- Google Gemini AI: Ingredient analysis and health assessment
- Open Food Facts: Product barcode lookups and nutritional data
- Apple StoreKit: Subscription and purchase management
- Apple HealthKit: Optional health data synchronization
- Firebase: App analytics and performance monitoring
4. Data Storage and Security
4.1 Local Storage (On Your Device)
Most of your personal data is stored locally on your device:
- Profile information and preferences
- Nutrition logs and entries
- Supplement schedules and reminders
- Water intake records
- Scan history (retained for 365 days)
4.2 Data Retention
- Scan History: Automatically deleted after 365 days
- Nutrition Logs: Retained until you delete them
- Account Data: Retained until app deletion
5. Apple HealthKit Integration
Ingredio integrates with Apple HealthKit to sync your nutrition data. This integration is:
- Completely optional and requires your explicit permission
- Used only to write nutrition data (calories, protein, carbs, fat) to Health
- Never used for advertising or marketing purposes
- Never shared with third parties
You can revoke HealthKit access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy → Health → Ingredio.
6. Children's Privacy
Ingredio allows creating profiles for children and babies within the Family subscription plan. Please note:
- Child profiles are created and managed by parents/guardians
- No data is collected directly from children
- Child profile data is stored only on the parent's device
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent
7. Your Rights and Choices
You have the right to:
- Access: View all data stored in the app
- Delete: Remove all your data from the app settings
- Restrict: Disable specific features (camera, HealthKit)
- Portability: Request export of your data by contacting us
- Withdraw Consent: Revoke permissions at any time via iOS Settings
How to Delete Your Data:
- Open Ingredio → Profile → Settings
- Scroll to "Data Management"
- Tap "Delete All Data"
- Confirm deletion
8. Data Sharing
We do NOT:
- Sell your personal data to anyone
- Share your health information with advertisers
- Use your data for targeted advertising
- Store your scanned images on our servers
- Track your location
We may share data only:
- With service providers necessary for app functionality (as described in Section 3)
- When required by law or legal process
- To protect our rights or safety
9. International Data Transfers
Your data may be processed in:
- United States: Google Cloud services (Gemini AI)
- France: Open Food Facts servers
These transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards including Standard Contractual Clauses.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes by:
- Posting the new policy in the app
- Updating the "Last Updated" date
- Sending an in-app notification for material changes
